Investment thesis
KBC Focus Fund is the captive fund of KBC Group supporting technology startups and scale-ups, with a focus on nanotechnology, microelectronics, deep tech and the Internet of Things. It concentrates mainly on Belgium and neighbouring countries, home to leading technology expertise centres, and does not exclude companies with a significant hardware component. The fund invests up to EUR 5 million over a company's lifecycle, with a sweet spot of EUR 0.5-2.5 million in a first round, acting as lead or co-investor. Beyond capital, it offers technical expertise, business introductions and access to KBC Group's network, plus assistance across the growth cycle via dedicated M&A, corporate finance, and research and sales teams.
