Investment thesis
VCTF is a government-backed fund of funds created by Ghana's VCTF Act 2004 to develop a structured venture capital industry in the country. It allocates capital to eligible Venture Capital Finance Companies, run by locally based fund managers, that increase the availability of risk capital to small and medium-sized enterprises. The Trust Fund pursues a dual mandate: providing credit and equity financing to VCFCs supporting SMEs, and funding broader programs promoting venture capital financing. It has invested in thirteen VCFCs and driven industry development through initiatives such as the Ghana Alternative Exchange and the Ghana Angel Investor Network, aiming to create and sustain jobs and generate wealth.
