Barclays UK Ventures operates as an independent-mandate unit within Barclays aimed at accelerating the future of banking. It focuses on two central themes: connecting communities and building new business lines across financial and non-financial propositions. The unit blends a start-up, disruptive mindset with the distribution capability and customer base of Barclays, testing ideas in independent environments before scaling them. It plans to explore five or six themes captured via organic build-out, commercial partnerships and venture investments, seeking early-stage companies with disruptive ideas to invest in and co-develop customer propositions with.
