Valor

Valor Vision is a markerless 3D movement assessment and athletic development platform operated by Valor Biomechanics, the brand name of the legal entity Brave Virtual Worlds, Inc. The product captures full-body movement from a single iPhone or iPad without a lab, markers or dedicated camera rig, producing movement scores and more than 30 kinematic data points in under five minutes. An optional Valor IMU sensor can be used alone or fused with camera capture for higher-fidelity measurement.

The platform is organized around an assess-train-track loop: a capture generates an athlete movement profile and flags asymmetries associated with injury risk; the resulting data drives personalized training plans and correctives; and progress is followed over time through side-by-side replays and trend views, from baseline assessment through return to play. Athlete-facing features include experience points and levels earned per session, phased programs, squad activity feeds and leaderboards, plus tracking of hydration, nutrition, mood and pain. Coach and organization tooling covers roster-wide assessment, a custom program builder, monthly re-baseline reports, multi-site and team management, AMS integrations, API access and program dashboards.

The company states compliance and security positions covering HIPAA (with BAA available), GDPR, CCPA, FERPA, an EU AI Act limited-risk classification, and hosting on AWS infrastructure described as SOC 2 / ISO 27001 certified.

Founding story

Three University of Virginia classmates — William Kodama, Evan Magnusson and Dhyey Parikh — met in class and began building movement-tracking hardware together in Charlottesville under the BraveX banner in late 2018, prototyping with off-the-shelf components and 3D-printed modules across dozens of iterations. After graduation, in 2021, the team raised on the idea of motion capture for sports and incorporated Brave Virtual Worlds, Inc., carrying its original motion-tracking patents into the new company. Their conclusion from conversations with coaches and athletes was that existing movement analysis tools were too slow, too expensive or too complex, and that biomechanics remained confined to elite labs, which led to the video-based product that became Valor.

Business model

Valor sells software subscriptions in two tracks. Coach-side plans are priced per coach seat rather than per athlete: Coach Base at $89 per coach per month (up to 100 athletes, unlimited assessments, full-body 3D analysis, custom program builder, monthly re-baseline reports, two capture devices per coach) and Coach Pro at $149 per coach per month (unlimited athletes, one-click group and individual programming, athlete app, wellness tracking). An Enterprise tier for three or more coaches is custom-priced and adds multi-site management, tailored programming and AI insights, AMS integrations and API access, dashboards and data-lake options, early access to sprinting, running and change-of-direction analysis, volume pricing and a dedicated account manager with on-site onboarding. Athlete-side plans run from a free-for-life Base tier to Advanced at $20 per month and Pro at $200 per month, the latter including unlimited captures and a session with a Valor Certified coach. Hardware purchase is not required; the Valor IMU sensor is optional.

Recurring subscription revenue: per-coach monthly seats for coaches, gyms and clinics; per-user monthly plans for individual athletes; and custom-priced enterprise contracts for teams, schools and multi-site facilities.

Traction

The company reports 5,000+ athletes helped, 35,000+ movements recorded and support for 21+ sports. Named users include associate athletic trainers at LSU football and ASU baseball and a human performance director at TCU men's basketball. Valor Vision was selected for the Juventus Forward '25-'26 squad and cites coverage in Sports Business Journal.

Latest developments

In 2025 Valor Vision was selected for the Juventus Forward '25-'26 cohort, unveiled at Allianz Stadium, and the company published a company-history article in August 2025. Enterprise customers are offered early access to sprinting, running and change-of-direction analysis.
