Twigly

Twigly was an Indian food-tech company that cooked and delivered meals from its own central (cloud) kitchens rather than operating dine-in outlets. Founded in August 2015 in Gurgaon by Sonal Minhas, Rohan Dayal and Naresh Kumar Kachhi, it opened its consumer website and mobile app on 16 September 2015 and served customers across Gurgaon and later parts of Delhi and the wider Delhi NCR region. Its menu spanned sandwiches, pastas, pizzas, grilled meats, rice-and-curry combinations, salads, snacks, desserts, shakes and smoothies, with dishes such as Piri Piri Chicken Sandwich, Achari Paneer Tikka Sandwich, Khao Samui and Phuket Green curries, and milkshakes and frappes. The menu was deliberately limited and rotated regularly.

The company positioned itself around freshness rather than frozen, long-shelf-life ingredients, discarding unused food at the end of the day and using biodegradable packaging where possible. In a five-kilometre radius around its kitchens it offered a 45-minute delivery guarantee, failing which the food was free. Ordering was available through its website and iOS and Android apps, with live order tracking, push notifications, pre-ordering, single-click reordering of a sandwich of the day ("Slick"), and card, net-banking and cash-on-delivery payment options. It also sold subscriptions to frequent customers.

Twigly raised an angel round of about $200,000 in November 2015 and a seed round of about $600,000, backed by Tracxn Labs, Hyderabad Angels and individual investors. Unable to raise further capital, it ceased operations, with the shutdown reported and confirmed in July 2018.
