Sigfox

Sigfox is the developer and operator of the 0G Network, a low power wide area network (LPWAN) dedicated to massive IoT that transmits small data packages wirelessly at low cost and with minimal energy use. The technology is designed for device-to-cloud communication addressing cost, energy consumption and global scalability, and is deployed through a network of local 0G network operators and IoT solution providers. Following an insolvency filing in January 2022, the business was acquired by Singapore-based UnaBiz; the Sigfox brand is now positioned as "Sigfox 0G technology by UnaBiz", with operations run from UnaBiz SAS at Data Valley, 1000 L'Occitane, Labege, France.

Commercial services include Admiral BLUE connectivity, sold via local 0G network operators or directly online for projects of fewer than 1,000 devices; the Atlas suite of geolocation add-on services positioned as an alternative to GPS-based tracking with trade-offs across battery consumption, cost and accuracy; and Coverage On Demand, based on the Access Station Micro gateway for extending coverage into deep indoor or remote locations. A developer portal, Sigfox Build, provides documentation, prototyping and development guidance, certification tooling, test credentials and device libraries for product makers and solution providers.

Applications span supply chain and logistics, manufacturing, smart cities, utilities and energy, smart buildings, insurance, home and lifestyle, and agriculture. In smart buildings, documented use cases include construction equipment and asset tracking, battery-powered intrusion and smoke detection, alarm back-up to cellular connectivity, HVAC and utility retrofitting, smart metering and leak detection, structural monitoring, defibrillator status monitoring, rodent-activity infrared sensing, fill-level monitoring for bins and compactors, service-request buttons, desk-occupancy monitoring, NFC tap-in/tap-out attendance readers and customer satisfaction buttons.
