What is the core problem you are solving? Why is this a big problem? What made you decide to work on it?

The founders address the fact that most traffic signals are timed sub-optimally, leaving drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians waiting or undetected, and generating resident complaints to public works departments. They note that existing detection systems only sense the presence of vehicles in fixed zones rather than modeling and predicting how road users move through an intersection; their approach models the scene in 3D and simulates possible light changes to select the best action. Their interest grew from a broader focus on infrastructure and urbanism and a desire to make cities more friendly to cyclists and pedestrians; Collin has built safety-critical IoT medical device software, and Sabeek has deployed computer vision systems in driverless vehicles on public roads.
