Pi² Labs (pi2.network) is developing Fast, a payment system aimed at what the company calls the agentic economy — transactions initiated and settled by autonomous AI agents rather than people. The company's premise is that existing payment infrastructure was not designed for agent-driven activity, which it argues will require throughput on the order of millions of transactions per second, transparency between interacting agents, and immediate settlement finality.

Fast's stated technical approach is parallel settlement, intended to allow agents to transfer value globally and securely at what the company describes as internet speed with verifiable, instant finality at machine speed. The company publishes a whitepaper, research materials and developer documentation, and maintains a Discord community for developers and users.

Founding story

Pi² Labs was co-founded by Grigore Rosu, who serves as Co-Founder and CEO. Rosu earned a Ph.D. in computer science from UC San Diego, worked at NASA on spacecraft software, and as a professor at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign created the K Framework for formal verification of programming languages. He previously founded Runtime Verification, which applied formal verification to distributed financial markets. The company presents Fast as an extension of more than 25 years of that formal-verification and systems work into global payments infrastructure for agents.
