Outerport

Outerport develops AI agents that design the systems inside industrial machines — relay control circuits, power distribution, and piping — representing them as structured design models rather than drawings alone. From a specification (PDF, DOCX, plain text) or a legacy scan (PDF, PNG, TIFF), the agents produce a design model that compiles into a CAD drawing set, with design-rule checks and simulation run against the model on every revision. Covered deliverables include single-line diagrams, main and control circuits, panel layouts, terminal tables and bills of material for electrical and control panels, and P&IDs, line lists and process systems for piping and instrumentation, validated for continuity, tagging and instrumentation coverage.

The product, Outerport Studio, also ingests a customer's existing drawing archive. A parsing pipeline classifies each page by type, detects symbols, lines and text with type-specific detectors, checks detections against the sheet's own legend, maps P&ID classes to CFIHOS, and assembles connectivity into a knowledge graph; every extracted value retains a citation to the region of the sheet it came from, and a review workspace presents it to an engineer. Parsed sheets become reusable templates — standard interlock circuits, trusted breaker frames — usable inside Outerport's design tool or exportable to smart CAD systems the customer already runs, including resizing older designs for new load ratings.

Beyond drafting, Outerport runs control circuits in its own simulator and can drive third-party CAE and simulation tools (HYSYS, Aspen Plus, Simulink are cited), setting up cases, running them and reading results back into the design model. An optimization agent generates families of design candidates and searches them with passing simulation as a constraint, and the same loop can be inverted: given test and inspection data, it searches for the design and process conditions that produced them. The underlying data platform maintains a single model of a customer's equipment with a knowledge graph joining documents, and exposes its drawing tools (line tracing, legend reading, graph queries) to agents built by customer teams.
