Massless

Massless develops Massless Space, a platform that synchronizes 3D design work across multiple applications so that several users can work in the same scene at the same time. The system is composed of three parts: plugins that connect a local authoring tool to Massless servers, a web application, and the hosting servers themselves. Supported authoring platforms are Blender and Unity, with a web-based viewer also available; the company states interest in other platforms can be registered by email or via its Discord.

The web application at space.massless.io serves as the hub where members log in through a passwordless email access-code flow, and from there view the Global Studio and Space Viewer, create and edit Spaces, download the Blender addon and Unity plugin, read documentation and view their profile. The Global Studio is the collection of all Spaces, where users can create, view, manage and copy the URL of a Space in order to connect to it from a local application such as Blender. A Space is described as a single shared work area analogous to a Unity or Blender scene but open to multiple people simultaneously.

Business model

Massless operates a membership-based platform: users register on the web app to become members, which grants access to the Global Studio, Space Viewer and downloadable Blender and Unity plugins.

Traction

The platform is live: members can log in at space.massless.io, create and edit Spaces, and download Blender and Unity plugins. All Spaces are currently Open and shared with the community under a CC0 licence, meaning they are visible and editable by all members, with further visibility and sharing permissions described as planned.
