Freestyle

Freestyle (freestyle.sh) provides full Linux virtual machines aimed at AI agent workloads rather than container-based sandboxes. VMs provision in under 600ms from API request to a ready machine, with documented p99 startup latency under 400ms, and can be run for extended periods, hibernated with their memory state intact, and resumed later in that exact state. The company positions the product as capable of supporting tens of thousands of concurrently running agents.

The VMs expose real root access and the full Linux feature set, including nested virtualization with full KVM support (allowing VMs, Docker or other virtualization stacks to run inside them), FUSE, eBPF, sealed Linux users, systemd services and groups for multi-user isolation, and a complete networking stack. Public tiers go up to 64GB of RAM, with larger configurations available for enterprise. VMs can be snapshotted and forked cheaply — including live forking of a running VM without pausing it — enabling branching, cloning and rapid recovery. The platform is accessed via an API, SDKs and a CLI, and its documentation covers VM lifecycle management, file transfer, base snapshots, SSH access, scoped-identity client sessions, custom and wildcard domains with TLS, VPCs, firewall rules, WireGuard tunnels, PTY sessions and anti-affinity VM placement.

Freestyle describes itself more broadly as a cloud for managing "AI code" — code that the operator did not write, whether generated by an AI or supplied by end users — and builds sandboxing, deployment and management APIs for that lifecycle. It is the creator of Adorable, an open-source AI app builder described as an open-source Lovable, and also publishes Cloudstate, a JavaScript database runtime written in Rust, along with a CLI and sandbox SDKs.

Business model

Freestyle sells cloud virtual machine infrastructure through a self-serve API, SDK and CLI. Usage is free to start with no credit card required, and documented pricing and limits are organized into plans, with paused VMs incurring no charge and enterprise tiers offering resources beyond the public 64GB RAM ceiling.

The website lists vly.ai, Rork and Vibeflow as customers. Its open-source repositories include Adorable with roughly 802 GitHub stars and 311 forks and Cloudstate with about 212 stars, across a GitHub organization of 47 repositories.
