FLOWBIO develops a wearable sweat sensor and companion mobile app that measure an athlete's fluid (sweat) loss and sodium loss during exercise and convert the readings into personalised hydration guidance. The sensor is reusable and non-patch based, worn on the upper arm with a supplied FLOWBIO arm strap or integrated with existing arm-based heart rate straps and compatible chest strap systems. Sweat is collected through a small channel using the pressure exerted by the sweat glands rather than a needle; microfluidic and electrochemical sensing measure local fluid loss and sodium concentration, which proprietary algorithms scale to whole-body estimates. The device samples sweat every 8 seconds to produce a continuously updating profile rather than a single reading, and also includes a skin temperature sensor, 100+ hour battery life and USB-C charging (sources [0][2][4][5]).

The software layer, branded AHi (Advanced Hydration Intelligence), spans three phases: a pre-session Hydration Planner that combines the athlete's sweat profile with planned intensity and session environment; live in-session streaming of fluid and sodium loss; and a post-session recovery module that calculates residual deficit from measured losses versus actual intake and produces a rehydration plan aligned with ACSM hydration guidelines. Live data streams to Wahoo ELEMNT ACE, BOLT 3 and ROAM bike computers as a native data field via a firmware update at no extra cost, with additional real-time integrations described as planned; the system also works with Garmin, COROS and Zwift for post-session sweat composition, and the app supports iOS and Android (sources [0][2]).

An earlier product generation was described in 2022 as the FLOWPATCH, a biowearable comprising a sensor module and an electronics shell that streamed data and hydration recommendations to watches, bike computers or phones, developed in stealth for roughly 15 months with athlete trials in a London performance lab (source [5]).
