Alumni Q&A

How did your company get started? (i.e., How did the founders meet? How did you come up with the idea? How did you decide to be a founder?)
The founders, Ben and Ariyaman, met as students in Montreal. Ben previously ran a roofing company and founded Timrep, a contractor permitting startup that reached six-figure revenue and raised from Accomplice; Ariyaman grew an SEO startup to six-figure ARR and automated property management for over 3,000 units. Both worked as dispatchers at home service companies, where they saw dispatch decisions made on instinct and poor data, and moved to San Francisco to build Fleety, starting with dispatch.
What is the core problem you are solving? Why is this a big problem? What made you decide to work on it?
Fleety addresses the dispatch decision at plumbing and HVAC shops: after a job is booked, someone must decide which technician to send and continually adjust as the day changes, balancing technician skills, drive time, customer needs, and revenue. The founders spent months working as dispatchers and note the stakes are high, citing that a shop's best technician can bring in $500K more per year than an average one. They started with dispatch because it touches most of the business and plan to expand into other workflows based on customer requests.
