Fleet

Fleet (Fleet Device Management, operating as Fleet Inc.) develops an open-source device management platform for IT and security teams. The product provides mobile device management (MDM), patching and software deployment, vulnerability and configuration management, and endpoint telemetry across macOS, Linux (all major distributions), Windows, ChromeOS, iOS and Android, including both corporate-owned and BYOD devices. It also covers servers, cloud environments (AWS, GCP, Azure), data centers, containers and Linux-based IoT devices.

The platform is built on osquery and works directly with data and events from the native operating system. Users can operate through a web GUI, a REST API, webhook events, an MCP server, the fleetctl command-line tool, or GitOps-style infrastructure-as-code workflows in which configuration changes are proposed, peer-reviewed, merged, applied fleet-wide and rolled back if necessary. Fleet markets an AI-assisted workflow in which changes such as configuration edits or CVE fixes are described in natural language and converted into reviewable changes. Additional capabilities include a catalog of Fleet-maintained apps and custom package uploads, automatic remediation of out-of-compliance devices, minimum OS version enforcement, end-user self-service software installation, disk encryption enforcement (FileVault, BitLocker, LUKS2), remote lock and wipe, conditional access combining device posture with an identity provider, and compliance reporting against CIS benchmarks, SOC 2 and ISO baselines.

Fleet emphasizes scope transparency: the agent's source code is public so end users can verify what is monitored, and the company states the agent is designed to collect only data needed to manage and secure devices rather than keystrokes, emails or webcam activity. Fleet develops an open-source core product distributed under the MIT license alongside a commercial licensed edition with paid features. The free version is stated to remain free permanently, while revenue comes from licenses for commercial capabilities and from a hosted offering in which Fleet runs the platform on the customer's behalf; customers may alternatively self-host on their own infrastructure. In June 2025 Fleet announced a $27 million Series B led by Ten Eleven Ventures, with participation from CRV, Open Core Ventures, Moonfire Ventures and several angel investors, bringing total funding to $52.3 million; the company said the round followed 6x revenue growth over the preceding two years. Current product messaging centers on AI-assisted device management, endpoint governance covering browser extensions, packages, MCP servers, IDE extensions and local AI agent sessions, and management of shadow AI and shadow IT.
