Technology

EcoG's technology stack combines embedded software with dedicated hardware. EcoG OS is an open, embedded operating system that orchestrates the charging process, inter-component communication and vehicle and backend interfaces; it is tested against Keysight conformance suites for ISO 15118-4 and -5, implements ISO 15118-2 DC charging, EIM, AutoCharge and renegotiation, supports full AC charging, and offers Plug & Charge encryption via RSA and elliptic-curve cryptography with Hubject certification. Physical- and data-link-layer support covers SLAC, BCB activation, sleep/wakeup and BFB restart. The software runs on EcoG charge controllers and application boards, now in a fifth generation, developed in collaboration with chip suppliers, and integrates with more than 60 pre-integrated components. The company describes the operating system as AI-enabled and emphasizes open APIs, hardware-agnostic design, OEM testing and adherence to European security standards.

Go-to-market

EcoG targets charger manufacturers with a packaged path from concept to certified product — reference designs, starter kits with remote access to EcoG experts, pre-integrated components and streamlined certification — advertising a first DC charger launch in as little as six months. It sells to charge point operators on uptime, remote diagnostics and multi-vendor flexibility, and to retailers, fleet operators and site hosts on customizable charging business cases. Marketing assets include product guides and whitepapers, one co-produced with BCG on modular powerblock-and-dispenser architecture. Industry standing is reinforced through CharIN membership since 2017 and core-member and speaker status since 2023, plus partnerships with hardware and semiconductor companies.

Headquarters in Munich, Germany (Truderinger Strasse 283), with a U.S. office in Detroit, Michigan (2050 15th St). EcoG entered the Indian market in 2022 and reports a footprint in Europe, India and North America; its UI products are described as field-proven across nearly every continent. A new testing and development centre in Bavaria is planned.

History

EcoG was founded in 2017 within the Techstars Mobility Accelerator in Detroit, and joined the Katapult Accelerator in Oslo in 2018. In 2019 the EcoG operating system launched on Siemens charging stations. In 2022 the company entered the Indian market and worked on the control interface for Megawatt Charging System standards. In 2023 it reported reaching a 15% share of DC chargers for electric cars sold in the EU and released the EcoG Charging Reliability Index. In 2024 it opened a Detroit office, described as a USD 16M investment supported by the state of Michigan, and released a bidirectional wallbox reference architecture with Infineon. In November 2025 it announced a €16 million Series B round.
