Company profile

researched Aug 2026

Doctify operates an online platform for verified patient reviews and appointment booking across health and social care. Patients can search for and compare specialist doctors, dentists, clinics, care homes and other healthcare professionals, read reviews left by other patients, and book appointments online — originally via web and iOS apps with filters for speciality, location, insurer and average rating. At launch the service covered specialists qualified in 47 different specialisms, including cardiology, oncology, paediatrics, dentistry and dermatology, focused on the UK private healthcare market.

Alongside the consumer-facing search and booking experience, Doctify supplies software tools to healthcare providers for collecting, benchmarking and publishing patient feedback. Providers use the collected reviews to demonstrate quality of care, build an online presence and identify improvements, while the booking system helps specialists re-fill appointments cancelled at short notice and manage their schedules. The company positions the model as an analogue to TripAdvisor, Trustpilot and Glassdoor applied to healthcare, where verified feedback has been comparatively scarce.

Founding story

Co-founders Stephanie Eltz and Suman Saha met as trainee trauma and orthopaedic surgeons. Eltz has said she struggled to find and book a suitable specialist quickly for an urgent personal medical concern despite being a doctor with a medical network, and found it easier to find online reviews for hotels or restaurants than for healthcare. She recruited her friend Saha and, to add business expertise, Daniel Jung, a former investment banker and business consultant.

Business model

Doctify runs a two-sided platform: it is free for patients to find and book health professionals, while clinicians and providers pay to list and to use its SaaS review-collection and feedback tools.

Clinicians pay a monthly fee to list on the platform, and the company provides SaaS solutions to healthcare specialists and provider organisations.

Traction

More than 50 million patients had used the platform as of 2022-2023, connecting with more than 25,000 healthcare providers globally; the company has stated a goal of enabling 100 million patients to choose healthcare with confidence by 2025.

Latest developments

In January 2023 Doctify announced a $10m growth round led by Beringea with participation from existing investors Keen Venture Partners, Amadeus Capital Partners and Guinness Ventures, to accelerate growth in key international markets and invest in product, sales, marketing and hiring. It has also announced partnerships with We Care Group and Curam in the care sector.

Full profile — market position, technology, go-to-market, geography, history

Market position

Described by its Series A lead investor in 2016 as the leading UK start-up in its space and the most popular UK patient platform for booking specialist medical appointments, and by 2023 as a leading global platform for patient reviews of health and social care.

Doctify's platform is built around verified patient reviews of individual clinicians and care providers — an area where large-scale review coverage has lagged consumer sectors — combined with booking and provider-side benchmarking, and the publication of professional endorsements between doctors.

Technology

A web and mobile (iPad/iPhone) platform for searching, comparing and booking healthcare specialists in under 60 seconds, with filters for speciality, location, insurer and rating, plus review-collection, publication and benchmarking tools for providers and published professional endorsements between doctors.

Go-to-market

The company sells subscriptions to clinicians and provider organisations while offering free search and booking to patients, and has partnered with care sector organisations such as We Care Group and Curam; funding has been directed at sales, marketing and product to expand in key international markets.

Patients seeking specialist private healthcare, and healthcare providers including individual doctors, dentists, clinics, hospitals, care homes and large provider groups such as Cleveland Clinic, The Royal Marsden, HCA, The Mayo Clinic and Priory Group.

Geography

Headquartered in London, UK, with platform usage reported across the UK, Germany, Austria, the UAE and Australia — five countries on three continents as of 2022.

History

Doctify was founded in 2015 and launched in the summer of that year in the UK; by early 2019 it reported that over 1,000 health specialists had signed up. It closed a seven-figure Series A round led by Amadeus Capital Partners in October 2016, under then-CEO Oliver Thomas, to improve the platform and scale UK operations ahead of international expansion. The company won pitch@palace and was awarded a prize by HRH The Duke of York in a competition to identify companies likely to drive future UK healthtech innovation. In January 2023 it raised a $10m growth round led by Beringea, bringing total investment to more than £22m.
