CyBall GameFi

CyBall, also presented as CyBloc Football, is a football (soccer) themed Web3 game built around NFTs. Its core in-game assets and characters are CyBlocs — "Cyborgs on the Blockchain" — which are represented as on-chain NFTs that players can collect, trade, mentor and use in battles. The game operates on BNB Chain and Polygon.

The project emerged during the 2021/2022 GameFi period and was characterized as one of the early entrants that helped bring Web3 gaming to a wider audience, reaching a peak of more than 20,000 daily active users. Development plans were disrupted by the collapse of FTX, which altered the team's roadmap for the game. In December 2022, Coin98 Labs — a DeFi and Web3 product builder whose ecosystem includes the Coin98 Super App, Saros Finance and Baryon Network — acquired CyBall, bringing additional funding and resources. The CyBall core team remained intact and began working with Yunero Studios, a Vietnamese game studio Coin98 Labs had acquired in June 2022 and formed into its gaming unit, with CyBall becoming one of the projects Yunero incubates.

CyBall monetizes through NFT-based game assets: CyBloc characters are on-chain NFTs that users collect, trade, mentor and battle with, with a planned $CYB governance token layer.

Latest developments

Following the December 2022 acquisition by Coin98 Labs, CyBall became one of the projects incubated by Yunero Studios, and the $CYB token launch originally set for 10 December 2022 was delayed pending the transition between the two teams.
