Automatika Robotics

Automatika Robotics is a French deep-tech company developing what it calls the intelligence layer of robotics: software infrastructure that lets general-purpose robots and other physical agents perceive space, interpret human behaviour and operate in the real world. Its stated mission is to enable machines to understand and navigate human-populated and unstructured environments and to collaborate safely with people across a range of settings.

The company's technical focus spans perception, navigation and control. It describes a social approach to navigation, in which the robot models the cooperative nature of human path planning and the surrounding scene in order to produce natural trajectories that avoid blocking points and preserve the safety and comfort of people sharing the space. The resulting navigation system is presented as adaptable across mobile robotics applications including delivery robots and autonomous city service robots, as well as autonomous driving in dense urban centres and pedestrian-shared areas.

Automatika positions its work as a single platform for engineering physical AI, centred on EMOS, an embodied operating system. Around it the company publishes a set of open-source packages, including EmbodiedAgents (a ROS2 framework for interactive physical agents that understand, remember and act on contextual information), Kompass (an event-driven, GPU-accelerated navigation stack with a Python API) and its Kompass-core motion planning and control library, Sugarcoat (a meta-framework for event-driven multinode ROS2 systems) and RoboML (an aggregator for prototyping and deploying open-source ML models for robotics).
