Alumni Q&A
- How did your company get started? (i.e., How did the founders meet? How did you come up with the idea? How did you decide to be a founder?)
- The three founders have been close friends since their freshman year of college, with two of them having roommates for two years. The idea came after one founder's anesthesia claim was denied and he spent weeks appealing it. They began building Aegis in February.
- What is the core problem you are solving? Why is this a big problem? What made you decide to work on it?
- The founders are addressing the money healthcare providers lose to denied insurance claims, which they cite as over $260 billion a year plus another $20 billion spent on recovery efforts. They decided to work on it after experiencing a claim denial firsthand.
- What is your long-term vision? If you truly succeed, what will be different about the world?
- The founders aim for a system where healthcare providers are paid quickly and fairly, freeing hospitals to spend time and money on care rather than paperwork, and reducing the need for patients to fight for insurance benefits during recovery.
Summarized from the founders' answers on their Y Combinator profile.
