Adentro is a physical identity and measurement platform that uses a business's existing guest WiFi access points to turn anonymous foot traffic into customer profiles, power automated win-back marketing, and measure which ads drove in-store visits via its Walk-Through Rate metric. It serves brick-and-mortar businesses looking to attribute advertising to physical store visits.

Company profile
researched Aug 2026Adentro sells brick-and-mortar operators the piece of measurement that online retailers take for granted. Its software sits on a location's existing WiFi access points; a guest who signs in to the network is matched to a consumer profile, which both builds the merchant an owned contact list and creates an identity the company can look for again. Later exposure to an email, a social or CTV ad, or a loyalty campaign is then scored against whether that same person physically walked back in — the metric the company has marketed since its Zenreach years as a walk-through rate. Deployment is configuration rather than new hardware in the common case, which is how the company pitches multi-site restaurant and retail chains that already run guest WiFi.
Founding story
The company was started in 2012 inside Atomic, the San Francisco startup studio Jack Abraham founded the same year, and incorporated as Wifast, Inc. Abraham had sold his price-comparison startup Milo to eBay in 2010 and ran eBay's local efforts before turning to studio building; Zenreach was one of the studio's first companies and Abraham ran it as CEO himself. Tom O'Brien joined as co-founder on the sales side. It stayed deliberately quiet for roughly four years, raising about $20M across a seed and a Series A that were never announced, and only came out of stealth in July 2016 alongside a $30M Series B.
Business model
Subscription software sold per location to businesses that already operate guest WiFi, priced as a recurring platform fee rather than per campaign. The product bundles three things a merchant would otherwise buy separately: capture (turning WiFi sign-ins into contactable profiles), activation (automated win-back email and audience export into ad platforms), and measurement (attributing those campaigns to physical visits).
Recurring subscription revenue from merchant locations. In its early years the company also supplied the WiFi hardware itself on a monthly plan; the current product runs on the access points a location already has, and reaches customers additionally through carrier and platform channels such as the Verizon Business Marketplace, where it is billed on the customer's existing Verizon invoice.
Traction
The company says its network covers more than 6,000 locations and more than 100 million verified consumer profiles, which it frames as reach to about one in five US adults. Contemporaneous 2016 reporting had it at roughly 150 employees, more than a third of San Francisco's population having logged into a customer's network, and 7.5x year-over-year revenue growth. A partner case study with Hopdoddy Burger Bar reported about $166,000 of tracked revenue and an 8.67:1 return on ad spend within six months.
Latest developments
June 2026: listed on the Verizon Business Marketplace, so Verizon Business customers can buy the guest-WiFi capture, win-back marketing and walk-in measurement bundle as a software add-on on their existing invoice. March 2025: a partnership with loyalty platform Thanx to convert WiFi guests into loyalty members for restaurant chains. November 2024: an integration with Alpine IQ joining its segmentation and loyalty tooling to Adentro's foot-traffic signal.
▸Full profile — market position, technology, go-to-market, geography, history, ownership, risks & controversies
Market position
An independent private company in a crowded guest-WiFi marketing category (Beambox, Bloom Intelligence and others compete on capture), differentiated mainly by scale of the identity graph and by the walk-in measurement claim. It is not a category leader by funding — roughly $107M raised in total, with nothing announced since a 2023 filing — but it has kept shipping partnerships and channels.
Closed-loop attribution to a physical visit rather than to a click or a coupon redemption, built on first-party data the merchant owns. That was the original Zenreach pitch in 2016 and it survived the rebrand; the later positioning widens it from WiFi marketing to physical identity and measurement.
Technology
An identity and measurement layer over captive-portal WiFi. Sign-in events resolve to persistent consumer profiles; repeat presence at a location is detected from network association, which is what lets the company report a visit as an outcome rather than inferring one from a click. Audience segments are pushed out to email, social, CTV and loyalty systems, and the resulting visits are matched back.
Go-to-market
Direct sales to chains, plus integration partnerships that put Adentro inside systems merchants already run — Cisco Meraki and Verizon on the network side, Thanx and Alpine IQ on the loyalty and CRM side. The Verizon Business Marketplace listing (June 2026) is a channel motion: the software is bought and billed through the carrier.
Multi-location brick-and-mortar operators whose economics turn on repeat foot traffic — restaurant and bar groups, retail chains, malls, venues and stadiums, and service businesses.
Named case studies span restaurant groups (Hopdoddy Burger Bar, Primanti Bros., Fogo de Chão, Slim Chickens, Golden Road, Tao Group), coffee and grocery (Peet's Coffee), retail and apparel (PUMA, Veronica Beard, John Hardy), and entertainment venues (Bowlero, Meow Wolf, Circuit of the Americas). The 2021 rebrand release named Ruth's Chris Steak House, Bowlero and Peet's Coffee among its brands.
Geography
Headquartered in the Presidio in San Francisco (1 Letterman Drive), selling into the United States; historically it also ran offices in Phoenix, Arizona and Waterloo, Ontario.
History
Incorporated in Delaware as Wifast, Inc. in 2012 and built at Atomic. It raised about $20M quietly — a roughly $4M seed and a roughly $16M Series A involving Formation 8, Bain Capital Ventures, First Round Capital, SV Angel and Felicis Ventures — before leaving stealth on 19 July 2016 with a $30M Series B led by Founders Fund, which put Peter Thiel on the board. A $30M Series C followed on 23 March 2017, led by Maverick Ventures with 8VC, Bain Capital Ventures, First Round Capital and SV Angel participating alongside angels including Kevin Durant and Ashton Kutcher; the matching Form D records $23.0M actually sold against that $30M offering. Growth stalled after that: Abraham stepped back from CEO to executive chairman in March 2018, the company cut about a fifth of its staff the same year, and its August 2018 Form D reports $14.0M sold. Under CEO John Kelly it renamed itself Adentro on 28 September 2021 — adentro is Spanish for 'inside' — moving the brand from WiFi marketing to in-store customer insight. Ben Matlin became CEO in November 2022. A third Form D in November 2023 reports $12.7M sold. Across all of it the SEC registrant never changed: CIK 1701391, Adentro, Inc., formerly Zenreach, Inc., formerly Wifast, Inc.
Ownership
Private and venture-backed; no acquisition or shutdown has been announced and the company is trading normally as of August 2026. The November 2023 Form D lists Jack Abraham, Healey Cypher and Alex Kolicich (8VC) as directors and Benjamin Matlin as an executive officer — a board that no longer includes Peter Thiel, Joe Lonsdale or Nat Turner, all of whom appear on the earlier filings.
Risks & controversies
The business depends on collecting identifiable consumer data at the point of a WiFi sign-in, which puts it squarely inside US state privacy regimes; it runs a separate WiFi privacy notice and a 'do not sell my information' path, still served under the zenreach.com domain. Commercially, the 2018 retrenchment — a founder-CEO stepping back and a roughly 20% staff cut within a year of a $30M round — remains the sharpest discontinuity in its history, and no priced round has been announced since.
