Technology

History

Founded in 2020 as a University of Eastern Finland spin-off, the company obtained a CE mark for its analysis software as a medical device in May 2021, roughly eight months after starting, which required productizing the research software prototype, performing a clinical evaluation and building a quality management system. Voima Ventures invested in 2021, by which time the team had six people and an advisory group of seven neurologists. In June, German medtech group Gerresheimer invested alongside existing investors Voima Ventures and Cor Group and several angel investors, as part of a seed round of which EUR 2.2 million had been raised at the time of the announcement. The company has published peer-reviewed and conference research with University of Eastern Finland-affiliated authors, including work on EMG morphology during deep brain stimulator adjustment (PLOS ONE, 2022) and detection of negative myoclonus in long-term home measurements with wearables (Clinical Neurophysiology, 2023).
