Acelfil

Accelerated Filtration, Inc. (operating at acelfil.com, also referred to as AFI) is a Midland, Michigan water filtration company that develops packaged, turn-key industrial filtration systems for the removal of fine suspended solids from variable water streams. Its debut product, the VelRay X, is described as an extended-range filter and concentrator intended to hold continuous performance when total suspended solids (TSS) spike, in contrast to bag and cartridge filters that blind, self-cleaning screens and disks that enter continuous backwash, and chemical dosing programs that cannot adjust quickly.

The company positions the system for intake water, process water recycling and reuse, and wastewater treatment. Claimed operating characteristics include continuous filtrate flow during the cleaning cycle, no chemicals or consumable media, water recovery of up to 99%, and a single commercial unit handling up to 400 gallons per minute — on the order of half a million gallons per day. Stated benefits center on removing manual operator intervention (bag change-outs, bypass modes, alarm response), maintaining discharge quality during high-TSS events tied to permit exposure, avoiding coagulant/flocculant programs, and protecting downstream membranes, heat exchangers and evaporators in reuse and zero liquid discharge trains.

Accelerated Filtration was incorporated in December 2020 and, as of May 2023, occupied roughly 6,000 square feet of warehouse space shared with SC Johnson in Midland, with eight people on staff and additional manufacturing roles open. It builds its product with Michigan-based suppliers.
