About

Karl Lehenbauer is the principal architect of FlightAware's flight tracking technologies and cofounder of the company. He has spent decades designing and managing development of large, real-time applications in aerospace, energy, and oilfield sectors, and founded the first Internet service provider in the Southern United States in the 1990s. His technical contributions include work on the Tcl programming language, multiple open source projects dating to the mid-1980s, and engine monitoring systems at GE Aircraft Instruments. He currently invests through Sand Hill Angels and competes in Trans-Am TA racing, winning the 2015 Texas Region points championship in the Super Unlimited category.
