Earlier in his career he worked at JMP Securities covering internet stocks, made private equity investments at Hovde Capital, and worked in the structured finance division of Standard & Poor's advising banks and hedge funds on credit transactions. He holds an MBA from the University of Virginia's Darden School of Business and a Master's in Accounting from the College of William and Mary, and passed the Virginia CPA Exam in 2006.
