Dr. Julie Pullen is a physical oceanographer whose career moved from naval oceanography to leading the nation's Maritime Security Center and then to an engineering professorship at Stevens Institute of Technology. After a Fulbright sabbatical in the Philippines exposed her to escalating extreme weather, she left academia to help build the climate risk analytics startup Jupiter Intelligence and later co-founded Propeller, a venture capital fund investing in ocean climate technology, where she served as founding Partner and Chief Scientist. She now advises and sits on boards focused on climate and ocean solutions, including Ocean Visions, Carbon to Sea, and the Euro-Mediterranean Center on Climate Change. She holds a Ph.D. in physical oceanography from Oregon State University and is a Fellow of the Explorers Club with a forthcoming debut book.
