Daniel Ek co-founded Spotify in Stockholm in 2006 and built the licensing deals that made legal streaming viable, reversing two decades of revenue decline in recorded music and taking the company public via direct listing in 2018. He had sold his advertising company Advertigo before turning 24. He founded the European defence-technology investor Prima Materia, which led Helsing's rounds.
