Avie Tevanian is Co-Founder and Managing Director of NextEquity Partners and also serves as a Managing Director of Elevation Partners, which he joined in January 2010. He previously spent nearly a decade at Apple as Chief Software Technology Officer and Senior Vice President of Software Engineering, leading development of Mac OS X, and earlier was VP of Software Engineering at NeXT Computer, where he worked on NeXTSTEP. He holds a B.A. in mathematics from the University of Rochester and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in computer science from Carnegie Mellon University, where he helped design the Mach operating system.
