Born in Florence in 1941, he began as an entrepreneur in the wood industry, later becoming a major shareholder of Swedish abrasives company Ekamant AB. In 1987 he co-founded Toscana Finanza Spa (later merged into Banca IFIS). His wealth and holdings are managed through the family office Next Holding.
