Alexis Ohanian is an American internet entrepreneur and investor best known as the co-founder and former executive chairman of Reddit, which he started in 2005 with Steve Huffman after going through Y Combinator's first batch. Reddit was acquired by Condé Nast in 2006, and Ohanian later returned to run the independent company before stepping back in 2018 and resigning from its board in 2020. He co-founded the early-stage venture firm Initialized Capital in 2010, where he made seed investments in startups including Instacart, Opendoor, Coinbase, and Cruise, and the firm grew to manage more than $500 million across multiple funds. He also started the social enterprise Breadpig, helped launch the travel site Hipmunk, and was a partner at Y Combinator before leaving in 2016. In 2021 he launched a new venture capital firm named 776, and in 2024 he launched Athlos, a women's track and field event. Beyond tech, he became a founding owner of NWSL franchise Angel City FC and bought a stake in Chelsea Women FC. In 2025 he co-purchased and relaunched Digg with Kevin Rose.
