Investment thesis
TAINFUND targets the pre-PMF funding gap in Tanzania, where early-stage capital is scarce and startups risk entering the 'valley of death'. Rather than operating as a traditional angel network, it uses a pooled fund structure for faster decision-making and guaranteed capital availability. It writes checks of $10K-$30K into pre-seed startups sourced through startup hubs, direct applications, referrals, and accelerator partnerships, and follows a five-step process of sourcing, analysis, due diligence, legal finalization, and portfolio monitoring. Investors join with a $5,000 subscription to gain diversified exposure across roughly eight startups, with targeted returns of 2x-3x over a 3-5 year period.
