Investment thesis
Founded in 1984 to manage the Hamlin family's business investments, LBCW began with a strong focus on commercial real estate, a strategy that led to the formation of publicly traded REITs including what became Corporate Office Properties Trust. Since 2005, after Clay Hamlin retired as CEO of COPT, the firm has built a professional management team dedicated to diversifying the family's holdings beyond real estate for long-term benefit. Today LBCW pursues its investment strategy through an extensive network of investment partners, selecting among a broad range of companies, management teams, private equity and hedge funds, and other private investors and entrepreneurs.
