K2 & Associates Investment Management operates a flagship fund launched in December 2000 as a broadly diversified Canadian and U.S. portfolio employing a range of strategies including event-driven investing, merger arbitrage, and long/short equities and derivatives. The firm emphasizes proven strategies, strong industry relationships that provide extensive deal flow and securities lending access, and an investment team focused on learning and innovation. Its management team and their immediate families account for over 80% of assets under management. The firm also offers a Trust vehicle (opened October 2009) that invests primarily in the K2 Principal Fund L.P., available through authorized dealers via FundSERV and eligible for registered accounts.

Kelly Davies joined K2 in August 2008 and currently serves as CEO of K2 & Associates Investment Management Inc. She focuses on investor relations and marketing while also contributing to compliance and accounting operations. She holds an Ontario Securities Commission registration as an EMD–Dealing Representative.
Shawn Kimel founded K2 & Associates Investment Management in 1998 and serves as Chief Investment Officer and Chairman. He previously worked as an analyst at Working Ventures Canadian Fund from 1996 to 1998. He holds a B.A. from McGill University and an M.B.A. from the University of Toronto.
