Investment thesis
JPE positions itself as a business-succession fund dedicated to small and medium-sized Japanese enterprises facing successor shortages. Rather than treating companies as objects to trade, it takes over ownership through its funds, works in dialogue with owner-operators, strengthens the business foundation, drives growth, and eventually returns companies to independence via MBOs or hands them to new stewards. It runs regional and government-backed funds (e.g. the Tokyo succession fund and JR Shikoku relationship fund), backs traditional-style search funds and their searchers, and partners with regional financial institutions to institutionalize succession solutions. Its stated aim is to resolve succession problems, raise enterprise value, and contribute to regional revitalization.
