Investment thesis
Cogent Capital pursues two investment tracks. On the real assets side, it acquires, develops, and operates institutional-quality real estate, infrastructure, and renewable energy assets in secondary and tertiary markets, aggregating them into portfolios to improve risk-adjusted returns. On the innovation side, it backs businesses with defensible competitive advantages, clear growth paths, and committed founding teams, investing from pre-seed through Series A and remaining open to pre-revenue, pre-product, or concept-stage opportunities. The firm concentrates on Canadian-rooted opportunities, takes an active value-creation approach, and believes positive financial returns can coexist with beneficial environmental and social outcomes.
