Investment thesis
Through the OCIDA project (Opportunities for Circular and Inclusive Diversification of Agriculture), Alterna supports early-stage enterprises operating in western Honduras (Copán, Ocotepeque, Santa Bárbara, Intibucá, Lempira, La Paz) that form part of the agricultural value chain. It targets innovative, circular, regenerative, climate-smart, gender-sensitive and inclusive business models across food systems (coffee, vegetables, banana, plantain), organic agricultural inputs and bio-inputs, recycling and waste management tied to coffee and vegetables, and agricultural technologies such as smart irrigation and mobile advisory tools. Selected companies receive a strategic growth plan, impact-model strengthening, pitch preparation and access to co-financing grants that promote agricultural innovation and process optimization.
