What is a seed round and how big is one?
Seed is the round that funds a company from early evidence to the repeatable traction a Series A requires — typically 12–24 months of runway to find product-market fit. Modern seeds are institutional rounds led by dedicated seed funds, raised on SAFEs or as priced rounds.
Seed sizes have grown for a decade; the round once meant a few hundred thousand dollars and now commonly runs seven figures. What Series A investors expect at the end of a seed has grown accordingly.
