WellMiss is a virtual trauma-informed digital care clinic that delivers holistic and integrative care to women recovering from traumatic events. The company frames trauma as both a mental and physical condition, citing figures that one in two women experiences a traumatic event and that unresolved trauma can manifest as grief, anxiety, stress, panic attacks, sleep problems and eating disorders. Care is delivered by a collaborative team that includes integrative physicians and naturopathic doctors, trauma-informed specialists, wellness practitioners, holistic therapists and board-certified coaches.

The company's Sacred Space community is a web-based platform providing education, care tips and group coaching, with a Facebook community offered while the Sacred Space experience is being expanded. WellMiss is an organizational member of the Academy of Integrative Health & Medicine. Founding story

Founder and CEO Jennifer "Jaki" Johnson created WellMiss following the unexpected death of her 15-year-old son, Christian. During her grief journey she experienced insomnia and severe panic attacks and developed broken heart syndrome, which led to a leaky heart valve. Seeking care beyond conventional mental healthcare, she studied holistic and integrative approaches that address mind, body and soul, then surveyed, interviewed and ran focus groups with women and found a shared need for healing from traumatic experiences. Her stated aim was to give women of all backgrounds equitable access to this type of care.

Business model

WellMiss provides virtual integrative and trauma-informed clinical and wellness services to individual women through a web-based platform, combining one-to-one practitioner care with group coaching, live and recorded care sessions, and a paid or membership-style community experience. It also runs experiential events, such as the I AM WellMiss Experiential Summit, which generated its first paying customer.

Following a pitch at the Cox Enterprises Social Impact Accelerator powered by Techstars Demo Day, the company said it planned to open a seed round in the coming months and to launch a HIPAA-compliant mobile app consolidating collaborative care. The Sacred Space community experience was being enhanced, with users directed to a Facebook community in the interim.
