Taxfix

Taxfix (legal entity Taxfix SE, Köpenicker Str. 122, 10179 Berlin) operates a digital income tax filing service delivered through mobile apps and the web. Instead of statutory forms, users answer a guided sequence of simple questions; the company's algorithm selects roughly 70 personalised questions from a pool of about 3,000 based on the user's circumstances, calculates the expected refund, and transmits the return electronically to the tax authority. In Germany, filing runs through the official ELSTER interface of the tax administration. Users can scan an income tax statement (Lohnsteuerbescheinigung) to prefill data and store and categorise documents in the app.

The German offering is split into three tiers: a free "Start" refund estimate, a self-service "Basic" tier from €39.99 (€59.99 for joint assessment), and "Expert", from €99.99 or 20% of the refund, in which an independent, licensed tax adviser prepares the return and the filing deadline is extended (from 31 July 2026 to 1 March 2027 for the current cycle). Supported cases include employees, families, students, pensioners, landlords without VAT liability, and small-business/self-employed filers; the company has extended the platform to self-employed users and VAT pre-registration, while civil-servant pensions, forestry and agriculture income, year-round foreign residence, dual residence and foreign income remain unsupported.

In the UK, Taxfix operates the service formerly branded TaxScouts, rebranded under the Taxfix name after the two companies combined. The UK product is an accountant-led Self Assessment service delivered by a vetted community of around 150 UK-based, ACCA/CIMA/CTA-accredited practitioners, sold in three annual plans (£99, £149 and £349 promotional pricing versus £169, £249 and £499 list) that add deduction optimisation, HMRC audit and letter support, UTR registration, year-round accountant access and HMRC agent representation. A Making Tax Digital software product for landlords and sole traders, with built-in accountant support, is live from £4.99 per month.
