Star Waste

Star Waste Systems, LLC is a privately held waste collection and recycling company operating in eastern Massachusetts, including the greater Boston area, and southern New Hampshire. Through five local affiliates it provides residential curbside trash and recycling pickup, municipal residential waste programs, commercial front-load and rear-load collection, roll-off dumpster service, and industrial and construction and demolition (C&D) waste removal. Residential customers are offered 64-gallon and 96-gallon totes and weekly or bi-weekly schedules, while roll-off containers are available in 10-, 15-, 20-, 30-, and 40-yard sizes.

The company operates its own material recovery facility for industrial waste, using sorting and separation processes for construction and demolition material including metal, wood, and cardboard. It markets same-day container delivery, free phone or online quotes, and an online customer portal for service requests. Founding story

Star Waste Systems was built by CEO Patsy Sperduto, who spent nearly 10 years at Waste Management Inc. leading marketing for Northern New Jersey, Connecticut, and New England, founded Rhode Island and southern Massachusetts hauler Waste Haulers in 2006 (grown to 50 collection routes and three transfer stations before its 2015 sale to Waste Management Inc.), and then acquired Jet-A-Way in 2018 as the foundation of Star Waste Systems.

Casella Waste Systems completed its acquisition of Star Waste Systems on April 1, 2026, funding the deal with cash on hand and its revolving credit facility. Casella stated the deal was its fourth business acquired year-to-date, bringing total annualized revenues acquired in 2026 to approximately $150 million, and cited enhanced collection density in the Boston market as the strategic rationale.
