Sojunghangeul

Sojunghangeul (소중한글) is a mobile learning service for Korean-language (Hangeul) literacy, published by H2K (주식회사 에이치투케이 / H2k, Inc.). The core app teaches letter recognition, the syllable-combination principle, basic writing and dictation through a phonics-first curriculum sequenced from basic vowels and consonants, to diphthongs, double consonants, the seven key batchim (final consonants), similar-sounding batchim and complex diphthongs. Learning is delivered through more than 200 educational games, songs, stroke-order tracing and dictation exercises, with an AI-designed 1:1 curriculum that adapts in real time to the learner's patterns. The company states the app was developed with speech therapists, certified teachers and AI specialists from KAIST.

The product family extends beyond the flagship app. A companion title, Sojunghangeul Dongyo (소중한글 동요), targets younger children (roughly under age five) with phonics-based children's songs, cognitive-development games, basic letter-sound games and tracing activities, positioned as a pre-exposure step before the main Sojunghangeul curriculum. H2K also sells physical materials that pair with the apps, including workbooks (한글 배움책, 처음 한글책), a batchim syllable chart, magnetic letter play sets (만지작 한글) and a Sey Pen-compatible magnetic poster, sold in bundled app-plus-book-plus-manipulative packages. The apps are free to download with in-app purchases and subscriptions, and the company operates an official online cafe distributing free review worksheets, weekly picture-book recommendations and a 21-day daily reading program.

H2K also publishes other Korean-learning titles under the same developer account, including uniK: Learn Korean and BB: KPOP & Korean Learning. The developer address listed on Google Play is in Yuseong-gu, Daejeon, South Korea.

Freemium consumer apps: the Sojunghangeul apps are free to download with in-app purchases and paid subscriptions, complemented by sales of physical learning packages combining app access with workbooks and manipulatives, sold in discounted bundles. The company also reports use by schools in Korea.

Company and app-store materials cite 500,000 children who have learned Hangeul with the service and 500 schools using it in Korea. The companion Sojunghangeul Dongyo app shows more than 10,000 downloads on Google Play. The flagship iOS app holds a 4.3 rating from 130 ratings on the US App Store and 4.2 from 9 ratings on the New Zealand store. The company reports that in a study of 61 children new to Hangeul, 15 minutes of daily use over 8 weeks produced 80%+ accuracy in reading basic syllables.

Latest developments

Through 2025 app releases, the company expanded multilingual interface support (Vietnamese in version 3.13.50, Japanese and Chinese in 4.00.00, Thai and Russian in 4.02.00), renewed elementary-level dictation content (4.01.00), and enhanced the AI 1:1 customized curriculum and literacy learning (4.03.00). The Sojunghangeul Dongyo Android app was most recently updated with SNS login and sign-up fixes and stability improvements.
