SenSwim

SenSwim develops a video-only artificial intelligence and computer vision system that monitors, measures and analyzes swimmers' performance metrics in real time, without any wearable device on the swimmer. Commercial cameras are installed above the water line, either on a pool ceiling or a side wall, and no underwater cameras are required. The system tracks metrics including speed, time, stroke count, stroke rate, distance per stroke (DPS), underwater dive distance and turns, and displays results on a poolside screen for swimmers and on a phone or tablet for the coach.

Beyond measurement, the product functions as an end-to-end workout tool for coaches: workouts can be planned locally or downloaded from a shared cloud library, and the system launches swimmers by rows for each set and repetition using a countdown and sound, removing the need for a stopwatch or whistle. Swimmer identification relies on the coach entering an initial lane assignment via a drag-and-drop dashboard or a saved assignment, after which tracking algorithms follow changes in order. Live video streaming is offered for parents, fans and friends, and swimmers receive user profiles for sharing and comparing results with others worldwide. Features described as planned include remote workout management via live stream and post-workout debriefing that automatically generates short clips of specific events, such as all of a swimmer's open turns in a session.

Founding story

Co-founders Gal Nevo, a three-time Olympic swimmer and Georgia Tech graduate, and Avinoam Barak, an experienced hi-tech manager and parent of two competitive swimmers, both lived in Rishon LeZion and shared a frustration that swimming produced no real recorded data. They set three goals: bring the data-analysis revolution seen in other sports to swimming, avoid any solution requiring swimmers to change their routine (ruling out wearables), and keep the price low enough for any club rather than only elite programs.

Business model

Business-to-business sale of the camera-and-software analysis system to swimming clubs, teams and national federations, with the company emphasizing installation simplicity to keep pricing accessible to clubs beyond the elite level.

Traction

The Israeli national team, through the Israel Swimming Association, agreed to purchase the system and was described as the first in the world to use it in daily workouts; as of August 2019 the product was in beta and available to clubs internationally.
