Reviway

Reviway develops an automated road maintenance system combining a purpose-built vehicle, sensors, and software for preventive and long-lasting repair of asphalt surfaces. The vehicle carries out the full repair cycle without ground personnel: equipped with more than 80 sensors, it scans the damaged area, classifies the type of damage and optimises each phase of the process. Infrared technology softens and regenerates the existing asphalt before new material is added to restore the original road level, after which the patch is compacted and sealed. Each cycle takes under 10 minutes and covers roughly 1.6 m², allowing a single operator to restore more than 150 m² of road surface per day.

The system is designed for urban environments and continuous 24/7 operation across the year, including at low temperatures. It generates its own electric and hydraulic power onboard, and an integrated thermal container keeps asphalt at working temperature so material can be loaded during the day and used at night without depending on production plants. Built-in lighting and visual projection devices delineate the work zone for nighttime operation with limited traffic disruption. Repairs are tracked and monitored remotely in real time, recording location, time and method of each intervention.

Alongside repair execution, Reviway provides AI-based mapping and monitoring of road network conditions to detect surface deterioration, plan interventions, and act preventively on depressions and cracks before they become potholes. As of May 2025 the company operated a semi-automatic system requiring two operators, and was using new financing to develop the first fully automated prototype, with strategic suppliers already identified.

Business model

Reviway offers an integrated hardware-and-software product rather than an outright equipment sale. Vehicles are made available through rental, pay-per-use, or shared use among multiple public authorities, removing upfront purchase requirements; each repair carries a 24-month warranty. The company also sells AI-based road-network condition monitoring services and a fully managed option covering data collection, planning and execution of repairs as an end-to-end road network management service. Third-party profiling characterises the company as business-to-government with services/consulting, usage-based SaaS, and hardware-plus-subscription customer models.

On 7 May 2025 Intesa Sanpaolo announced €250,000 in funding for Reviway, structured under the "Convertibile Impresa" medium-to-long-term loan programme, with the bank retaining the option to convert into equity; Italian regional press reported a seven-year term. The proceeds are earmarked for the design and development of the first fully automated road repair machine, moving beyond the company's existing semi-automatic system that requires two operators.
