Raptech

Raptech (raptech.co) is the operator of Rap Fame, a mobile application for amateur and aspiring rap artists available on Android and iOS. Users register a single account per person and device, record tracks over beats, and take part in head-to-head rap battles against other users. Content posted to the app can be shared externally, saved to a device, or exported as an .mp3 file by subscribers.

The app is organized around community feedback and competition. Users accumulate Crowns, which reflect activity and are earned through votes from other members and top-five finishes in weekly contests, and Diamonds, which are earned by judging other users' tracks and determine placement in judging charts. An editorial layer sits on top of the community: the Rap Fame team reviews tracks, battles and videos and applies "Featured" tags to selected content, which then appears on the app's HOT feed; new users' standout tracks receive a "Rookie" tag and are ranked against a cohort of similarly recent joiners for 30 days. Featured criteria include audio and songwriting quality, at least 50 likes and 25 comments, and original album artwork within a track's first seven days. Verified blue checks are issued to well-known or skilled users, typically those with 50 or more featured tracks. Community members can also submit beats for other users and apply to act as Rap Fame Ambassadors who promote the app.

Business model

Raptech distributes the Rap Fame app free of charge and monetizes through in-app purchases and a premium subscription. Payments are processed through the Google Play and Apple App Store billing systems rather than by the company directly.

Two consumer revenue streams: purchases of "Benjis", the in-app currency used for actions such as promoting a track or battle to the HOT feed, and a Rap Fame Premium subscription. Premium includes access to premium sound effects, use of custom and user-owned beats, doubled recording time, votes counted at double weight, .mp3 export of songs, and advanced content statistics. Benjis can also be earned free through daily rewards that accumulate from 5 to 30 over six consecutive days, through referral invitations, and by completing Rap Fame Career steps.
