OHINERI

OHINERI (株式会社OHINERI) is a Kyoto-based company founded in September 2024 by representative director Yuma Sakai. It began as a provider of a digital tipping ("chip") service for inbound tourism: travellers scan a QR code and send a monetary tip to a named staff member through a web flow requiring no account registration or app install, completed in three steps. The service targets experience-based tourism operators, accommodation providers, restaurants and tour guides, and was named after "ohineri," the Japanese practice of throwing a gratuity to performers.

The company has since built a cultural-experience business in Kyoto. Under a "Way of XX" brand system it operates single-theme experience stores — Way of Matcha (Uji matcha, stone mill, tea ceremony and wagashi in a private machiya setting), Way of Hashi (chopstick making tied to a meal), Way of Incense (Japanese incense culture) and Way of Daruma (making a personal daruma figure) — plus Yorimichiya, a large machiya complex combining cultural experiences such as tea ceremony and calligraphy with travel guidance and retail. It also sends its cultural-experience team into hotels to run in-house programmes for guests during unstructured time in their stay.

Stated corporate purpose covers planning and operation of cultural experiences, dispatch cultural experiences to lodging facilities, and operation of experience venues. Its mission is framed as building an "emotional experience economy" that promotes Japanese consumption of experiences (koto shohi).
