Nomad Data operates a platform that applies AI to unstructured business documents and to the task of locating and organizing datasets. Its stated purpose is to let knowledge workers query thousands of documents at once and receive answers with pointers to the specific location in a document where the answer appears, as well as to help organizations identify data they already own, create or purchase and find new external sources.

The product line has three named components. Doc Chat extracts insights from unstructured text across large document sets, supports question-answering over any or all documents, and can export extracted fields across thousands of documents into a spreadsheet. The Data Relationship Manager (DRM) functions as a CRM-style system of record for data: records for every vendor, dataset and contact, logs of interactions and internal notes, management of data subscriptions and spend, tracking of evaluation progress across internal teams to avoid duplicate purchases, and alerts for pending renewals and opt-out dates. A third component, Connect, is offered for cases where users cannot find what they need. The company positions its document capability against general-purpose chat assistants on the basis of scaling to tens of thousands of documents, not using customer data for training, and configurability to business-specific document workflows.
