NocoDB

NocoDB is a no-code database platform that gives teams a spreadsheet-style interface over relational databases. Users can create databases from scratch on NocoDB's own hosted storage or connect existing external data sources, and then work with the data through grid, gallery, form, kanban, calendar, map, timeline, Gantt and list views. The product supports rich field types (text, number, date/time, select, attachment, formula, links, lookup, rollup, user and others), sorting, filtering, grouping, search and field reordering, plus role-based access control applied at workspace, base, table, field and record levels, and collaborative, locked and personal view permissions. Bases and views can be shared publicly or privately with password protection.

Beyond the spreadsheet layer, the platform includes a visual workflow builder with triggers, actions, conditions and loops (beta), JavaScript-based scripting with API access, event-driven webhooks on record create/update/delete, and dashboards with chart, number, text and iframe widgets. Extensions cover bulk update, data export, dedupe, org chart, page designer and URL preview. NocoAI provides AI-assisted creation of bases, tables, fields, views, filters, formulas and select options; NocoDocs is a built-in document editor; NocoSync pulls data from GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket and Linear. Programmatic access is via REST APIs (Meta and Data APIs v2 and v3), an SDK, and an MCP server for AI agent integration. An app store provides integrations across chat (Slack, Discord, Mattermost), email (AWS SES, SMTP, MailerSend) and storage (AWS S3, Google Cloud Storage, Minio).

At the time of its 2022 funding announcement, the company described support for data stores including MySQL, PostgreSQL, Microsoft SQL Server, SQLite, Amazon Aurora, MariaDB, Snowflake and Oracle DB, and workflow building with Slack, Microsoft Teams, Discord, Twilio, WhatsApp, email and connectors such as Zapier and Integromat.

Founding story

Naveen Rudrappa is CEO and Founder of NocoDB. The company states its motivation as the gap between spreadsheets, used collaboratively by more than a billion people daily, and databases, which are more computationally powerful but harder to work with; existing SaaS answers were seen as imposing weak access controls, vendor and data lock-in, abrupt price changes and limits on future capability. Its stated mission is to provide a no-code interface for databases available to every internet business under a fair and sustainable model.

NocoDB combines a freely available, self-hostable open-source core with a commercial cloud service and paid self-hosted licences. The self-hosted Community edition is free forever with unlimited records, storage and seats; paid tiers add enterprise capabilities such as SSO, granular table- and field-level permissions, teams, workflows, scripts and dashboards. Enterprise licences for self-hosting are purchased and then activated in the deployment.

Subscription pricing on a per-seat, per-month basis with annual or monthly billing. Cloud plans: Free ($0, up to 3 users, 3 editor seats, 10 commenter seats, 1,000 records, 1 GB storage); Plus ($12 per seat/month billed annually, or $108/month for unlimited seats, 50,000 records, 20 GB storage); Business ($24 per seat/month billed annually, or $216/month for unlimited seats, 300,000 records, 100 GB storage, 10 external database connections, SAML SSO); Scale ($45 per seat/month billed annually, 3-seat minimum, 1 million records, 150 GB storage, row-level security, audit logs); and a custom-priced Enterprise tier with SCIM/SSO, team hierarchy, priority support, invoice-based payment and planned base sandbox and whitelabelling. Self-hosted: free Community edition and a Business tier at $24 per editor/month billed annually.

The company's site cites more than 35,000 organisations, over 20 million Docker downloads, 62,000+ GitHub stars and 6,000+ community members. At the time of the October 2022 seed round, the company reported over 30,000 GitHub stars and more than 2,000 organisations using the open-source edition.
