Mindset MusicTech

Mindset MusicTech is an early-stage venture capital fund investing globally in companies working in music, sound and audio technology, with a particular emphasis on B2B software. It is a subsidiary of Mindset Ventures, an international venture capital firm focused on early-stage technology investments. The fund targets Seed and Series A rounds and states that it backs founders with deep market expertise who are building tools for the music and creative industries, positioning itself as a strategic partner that contributes network, knowledge and operational support alongside capital.

The fund's stated thesis is that each wave of technology, from notation through streaming and now AI, changes how music is created, distributed and monetized, and that tooling and infrastructure offer less exposure than entertainment content to hit-driven volatility. Accordingly, it concentrates on software that helps creators work faster, helps rights holders extract more value from catalogues, and deepens consumer engagement with music. Partner Lucas Cantor Santiago has described the fund as seeking startups that enhance human creativity or improve efficiency in the music business, while managing partner Daniel Ibri has characterized music tech as undervalued and open to disruption by AI and other new technologies.

Leadership consists of two managing partners: Daniel Ibri, a founding partner of Mindset Ventures who has closed more than 100 deals across six countries and teaches innovation and entrepreneurship at a Brazilian business school, and Lucas Cantor Santiago, a two-time Emmy-winning composer known for completing Schubert's Unfinished Symphony with AI in 2019. The fund also lists a large advisory bench spanning music industry, legal, academic and technology backgrounds, including Cliff Fluet (music attorney, Abbey Road Red board), Drew Thurlow (former SVP of A&R at Sony Music and former Pandora artist partnerships director), Jean-Baptiste Thiebaut (CEO of Music Hackspace), Rebecca Fiebrink and Mick Grierson (University of the Arts London), Tomer Elbaz (former EVP at Waves Audio), Heather Rafter (founder of RafterMarsh US, former general counsel at Digidesign/Avid), Dave Rosenberg (SVP at Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, co-founder of Nodeable and MuleSoft), Nemer Rahal, Camila Potenza and Boaz Albaranes.
