Company profile
researched Aug 2026Logik Systems, Inc. was founded in Washington, D.C. in 2004 by Andy (Andrew) Wilson and Sheng Yang after the two worked from 2002 to 2004 at a litigation-support company that printed millions of email pages for lawyers. They initially built a profitable services business that digitized, processed and printed discovery data. It reached No. 181 on the Inc. 500, operated its own servers and employed roughly 30 people, but the Great Recession destroyed litigation-services demand. Wilson and Yang laid off about half the staff and spent roughly four years converting what they had learned into a cloud, self-service product. Logikcull launched publicly in April 2013 around the simple workflow 'upload, search, download' and later moved its headquarters to San Francisco. The product automated ingestion and indexing of email, office files, PDFs and cloud collaboration data; OCR and metadata extraction; deduplication, near-duplicate and email-thread analysis; culling, search, tagging, privilege/PII detection, redaction and review; Bates-numbered production, sharing and audit trails. Legal Hold added custodian notices, questionnaires, reminders, acknowledgements and preservation tracking. Native collection connectors now cover Microsoft 365/Exchange/SharePoint/OneDrive/Teams, Google Workspace through Vault, Slack, Box and Dropbox, with Onna extending collection to 29-plus cloud sources. Logikcull is aimed at corporate legal departments, law firms, state and local government, education and smaller teams that want to run routine litigation, subpoenas, internal investigations, FOIA/public-records requests, DSARs and early-case assessment without an eDiscovery service bureau or specialist. Its commercial innovation was product-led, self-service delivery with unlimited users/support and unusually legible pricing. Pricing changed over time: an early pay-as-you-go offer was $40 per hosted GB per month; by 2019-20 Logikcull promoted fixed monthly per-matter plans without hosting fees; 2022 third-party documentation listed $395 per matter per month; and the current page offers quote-based storage subscriptions, matter subscriptions and month-to-month pay-as-you-go based on stored data with a 10GB minimum. Reveal added flexible pay-as-you-go options again in 2026. Wilson and Yang bootstrapped the company for its first decade. In March 2015 it accepted a $4 million seed led by Storm Ventures, with first investor/board member Jason Lemkin and angels including Anshu Sharma and Nick Mehta. OpenView led a $10 million Series A in August 2016 with Storm participating; Blake Bartlett represented OpenView on the board. NEA led a $25 million Series B in January 2018 with OpenView and Storm; Chetan Puttagunta joined the board for NEA. Total publicly announced outside financing is therefore $39 million. Database claims of $42.5 million/four rounds lack a traceable separate announcement and are retained as unresolved rather than treated as fact. Benchmark was not a disclosed financing backer: the legacy attribution appears to conflate Puttagunta's later Benchmark affiliation with his NEA-led Logikcull investment. Jason Lemkin described himself as Logikcull's first and largest venture investor during the 2015 'de-bootstrapping.' Logikcull reported doubling its customer base annually after launch and in early 2018 said it had grown more than 500% in under a year, was growing about 10% monthly, had hosted over one billion pages and was receiving roughly one terabyte of uploads daily. By 2023 it served more than 1,500 organizations; the current about page reports 38,000 users across 1,500-plus legal teams, and the website says thousands of legal teams. Named users or public references include Earthjustice, the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, American Electric Power, Veolia North America, SunPower, the cities of Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, Baltimore and Jacksonville, Fairfax County, Cupertino, Corona, Parkway Schools and Madison County, North Carolina. The product's ease-of-use position is supported by hundreds of G2 reviews and current claims that new public-records users can become self-sufficient within an hour. Security is central because customers store privileged work product, personally identifiable information, health data and evidence. Logikcull runs on AWS in U.S. and European regions, says data is encrypted in transit and at rest with 256-bit encryption and daily backups, advertises a SOC 2 Type II environment, ISO 27001, HIPAA, GDPR, CCPA and NIST CSF alignment/requirements, 99.99% uptime, SSO, 2FA, granular permissions, vulnerability scanning and timestamped activity logs. Those are vendor assertions and compliance/alignment statements, not a guarantee that every customer workflow is legally compliant. In August 2023 K1-backed Reveal Data acquired Logikcull and IPRO simultaneously. Reveal said the transactions together were valued above $1 billion and made post-combination Reveal worth more than $1 billion; Reuters confirmed that individual deal terms were not disclosed. Investor/founder retrospectives later described Logikcull's own outcome as roughly $270-300 million, but that range is not an official purchase-price disclosure and is recorded only as secondary valuation context. Logikcull entered the deal with more than $30 million ARR after growth had stalled around $15 million and management rebuilt the team and reaccelerated growth, according to Lemkin. The day after announcement, Reveal confirmed 79 combined Logikcull/IPRO layoffs while saying most staff would remain. Andy Wilson now identifies as former CEO; Logikcull continues as a branded product in the Reveal ecosystem rather than an independent company. Reveal's combination strategy spans Logikcull self-service matters, IPRO/on-premise and Reveal enterprise AI. In March 2026 Reveal announced European Logikcull hosting, new pricing flexibility and enterprise AI; in June it introduced Logikcull for Public Records, combining agency-branded intake, assignment/deadline tracking, request communications, review, automatic PII detection/global redaction, exemption logic and ASK generative-AI search, with Q3 broad availability after early access. Current AI positioning uses Reveal's proprietary ASK search and claims smart filters can reduce uploaded data 70-90%; lawyers still must validate relevance, privilege, accuracy, completeness and production decisions. Core competitors are RelativityOne, Everlaw and DISCO, followed by Reveal/IPRO before the acquisition, Nuix, OpenText, Exterro, Casepoint, KLDiscovery, Deloitte/EY/KPMG/PwC services, Nextpoint, GoldFynch and native tools such as Microsoft Purview and Google Vault. Logikcull is strongest for fast, intuitive in-house handling of small and mid-size or repeatable matters, while enterprise rivals can offer deeper forensic processing, technology-assisted review, governance, services and very large-matter workflows. Principal risks include a breach or misconfigured access exposing privileged/sensitive evidence; faulty collection scope, metadata preservation, OCR, deduplication, threading, AI answers, privilege/PII flags or redaction; legal-hold failure and spoliation sanctions; chain-of-custody or production-format challenges; cross-border sovereignty/CLOUD Act issues; AWS/service outages; usage/storage cost surprises; difficulty exporting work product; competitive AI commoditization; and pricing, support or roadmap changes under Reveal. No material Logikcull-specific public data breach, enforcement action, recall or adjudicated customer-loss case was identified in the manual review, but that negative result is not proof of absence. The profile distinguishes Logik Systems, Inc. from unrelated companies named Logik and distinguishes Reveal's >$1 billion post-deal valuation/combined transaction language from Logikcull's undisclosed consideration.
Founding story
While working in litigation support from 2002-04, Wilson and Yang watched law firms print millions of emails at about $0.25 per page. They formed Logik Systems to digitize the process, built a profitable service bureau from Wilson's dining room, survived a recession-driven collapse, and spent roughly four years rebuilding the workflow as the self-service Logikcull cloud product launched in 2013.
Business model
Cloud SaaS that lets legal, government and education teams self-serve the collection, preservation, processing, search, review, redaction and production of electronically stored information.
Storage-based, matter-based and enterprise SaaS subscriptions plus month-to-month pay-as-you-go usage; historical models included $40/GB/month and $395/matter/month. Unlimited users and support reduce seat-based friction; current prices are quote-based.
Traction
1,500+ legal teams and 38,000 global users currently claimed; >$30m ARR and ~30-40% growth near the 2023 sale per first investor; 1b+ pages hosted and ~1TB/day uploads by early 2018; current public-records customers include major U.S. cities.
Latest developments
2026: Reveal introduced European hosting, enterprise AI/ASK access and new pay-as-you-go flexibility in March; launched Logikcull for Public Records early access in June with intake, deadlines, PII detection, redaction, exemption logic and AI search, targeting Q3 broad availability; current August content continues expanding AI/public-records workflows.
