Previously, he spent nearly two decades in measurement and development work, including soil science research in East Africa, field team management at TechnoServe on coffee supply chain initiatives, co-founding Enveritas (YC S18) to deliver sustainability assurance for coffee and cocoa supply chains using farm surveys and machine learning, and a role at Protocol Labs where he developed precursor technology for the current platform.

He has worked as a software engineer, research scientist, and adjunct professor, with contributions to distributed systems and security; he co-founded Oasis Labs and created a networking project that Google productionized as Outline.
