Intensel

Intensel is a climate risk analytics company that quantifies how extreme weather events — rainfall and riverine flooding, storm surge, tropical cyclones/typhoons, wildfires and other perils — affect individual physical assets and the businesses that own or finance them, both under present conditions and under forward-looking climate scenarios. Its outputs are delivered through an asset-level analytics platform, hazard data layers, and APIs, with export options in JSON, CSV and Excel formats and encrypted data storage.

The product line comprises three offerings. The Climate Data Analytics Platform combines a proprietary hydrology digital twin with an insurance-style financial framework (Hazard × Exposure × Vulnerability) to produce flood depth and velocity, Climate Value at Risk, Average Annual Loss, credit spread adjustments and operational disruption estimates; users can screen portfolios across more than 20 hazards, model co-occurring events such as a typhoon generating simultaneous storm surge and extreme rainfall, and run SSP/RCP scenario projections on monthly, yearly or multi-year horizons out to 2100. Maps as a Service provides direct access to Intensel's physics-based hazard layers — flood depth and velocity, storm surge extents, wildfire risk zones — via API or data layers for embedding in clients' own GIS, underwriting or portfolio systems. The Hazard Deep Dive runs asset-specific probabilistic pluvial flood simulations using the digital twin engine together with HEC-RAS, accounting for terrain, urban and coastal flow dynamics, and site infrastructure such as drainage, flood walls and levees, and pairs loss estimation with retrofitting cost analysis for adaptation planning.

Reporting functions include a TCFD-aligned climate risk report intended to support customers' climate-related disclosures, and the platform is positioned as customisable to specific assets, locations or portfolios, with a dedicated customer relationship manager for onboarding.
